Operation Victory is Damascus’s dedicated program for incarcerated veterans, providing meaningful support before and after release. The program is designed to help veterans prepare for the transition from the institutional environment back into family, community, and everyday life.

PRE RELEASE PREPARATION
Successful reentry begins long before release. Operation Victory helps veterans prepare for the realities of returning to family, community, employment, and everyday responsibilities after incarceration.
Participants have the opportunity to examine the mindset and behaviors that may affect their transition and begin developing healthier approaches to decision making, relationships, responsibility, and personal growth.

TRAUMA INFORMED PROGRAMMING
Many individuals entering reentry programs have experienced trauma, abuse, loss, difficult relationships, or other experiences that can influence the way they respond to people and situations.
Operation Victory takes these experiences into consideration while helping participants understand how past experiences can affect their thoughts, emotions, behavior, relationships, and decision making.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Lasting transformation requires more than learning new skills. It also requires developing the character and personal responsibility needed to use those skills in everyday life.
Operation Victory encourages veterans to strengthen qualities such as integrity, accountability, responsibility, self discipline, respect, and personal ownership.

PROSOCIAL SKILLS
Successful reentry depends heavily on the ability to communicate, build healthy relationships, manage conflict, and work effectively with others.
Operation Victory helps participants develop prosocial skills that can support healthier interactions with family members, friends, coworkers, mentors, and members of the community.

FAMILY AND PARENTING SKILLS
Returning home after incarceration can bring both opportunities and challenges for family relationships. Years of separation may have changed family dynamics, created emotional distance, or made communication more difficult.
Operation Victory helps veterans prepare for the process of reconnecting with family and rebuilding relationships based on trust, communication, responsibility, and respect.

JOB SKILL DEVELOPMENT
A successful transition requires practical preparation for life outside the institution. Veterans returning to their communities may face challenges related to employment, financial responsibility, daily routines, social expectations, and independent living.
Operation Victory helps participants develop practical skills that can support greater stability and productivity after release.

POST RELEASE MENTORING
Reentry does not end when a veteran walks through the prison gates. The transition into family and community life can bring new challenges that require continued encouragement, accountability, and support.
Through volunteer based post release mentoring, Damascus continues walking alongside veterans as they rebuild their lives. Mentors can provide a consistent positive relationship while helping veterans navigate challenges related to family, employment, recovery, relationships, and community life.
