THE DAMASCUS APPROACH

REENTRY BEGINS BEFORE RELEASE

Successful reentry requires preparation before an individual leaves the institutional environment.
Damascus provides trauma informed and evidence based CBT programming that helps incarcerated individuals develop prosocial behaviors, strengthen character, and prepare for the transition back into family and social settings.
Our volunteer based mentorship continues before and after release, providing a consistent source of encouragement and support throughout the reentry process.

SUPPORTING VETERANS THROUGH REENTRY

PREPARING FOR LIFE AFTER INCARCERATION

01

PRE RELEASE PREPARATION

The transition out of prison begins before release. Participants can develop the mindset, skills, and support systems needed for life beyond the institution.

02

TRAUMA INFORMED PROGRAMMING

Damascus recognizes the impact that trauma and abuse can have on individuals and their ability to navigate relationships, decision making, and everyday life.

03

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Participants work toward developing stronger character and healthier patterns that can support productive choices inside and outside of prison.

04

PROSOCIAL SKILLS

Developing positive social skills can help individuals build healthier relationships and adjust more effectively to family and community settings.

05

FAMILY AND PARENTING SKILLS

Reentry often means reconnecting with family. Developing healthier communication, relationship, and parenting skills can support that transition.

06

JOB SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Preparing for life after incarceration includes developing practical skills that can help individuals move toward productive participation in society.

07

POST RELEASE MENTORING

The support continues after release through volunteer mentorship and connections with outside support groups, helping returning citizens navigate their new environment.

OUR APPROACH

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION FOR LASTING CHANGE

TRAUMA INFORMED

Our programming considers the effects of trauma and abuse that can influence behavior, relationships, and decision making.

EVIDENCE-BASED

Damascus uses an evidence based CBT curriculum to help participants develop healthier ways of thinking and responding.

MENTORSHIP-DRIVEN

Volunteer mentors provide encouragement and support before and after release, helping create continuity throughout the reentry journey.
